The importance of training for established governors

I’m just back from a training session at my school run by Melian Mansfield on effective governance. This was delivered as part of our SLA with Haringey Governor Services. Whilst there wasn’t much in the training that was completely new to me it reminded me of all the things that I should be doing that I’ve neglected (this website being one of them).

It’s very easy to become complacent, especially when your school is doing well, but training reminds us that there’s always more to do and that nothing ever stands still in education.

So whatever your expertise, level of experience of confidence in your school, have a look at the training brochure and book a session now. It doesn’t even really matter which, all of them will give you a little reminder of a way you could be doing something to help make your school better for its pupils.

    1. Glad to hear it!
Our new governors are going to the new governor training on Friday. I need to pick a couple out for myself.

    1. That’s right Liz. We report back from training, but don’t check out what’s coming up and plan who’s going, that would be a good idea.

What do you think?
